New advertising campaign
"it's believed Wendy's is going back to basics. It's continuing to focus on key messages such as claims that Wendy's beef is fresh, not frozen, while hammering home quality using an honest yet contemporary tone. Speculation has swirled that the spots also might incorporate a voice-over character representing Wendy, daughter of the chain's late founder, Dave Thomas."
These subjets are predicted to really drive-home the wendy's name, and make the customers understand where Wendy's came from with Dave Thomas as their founder, and thats what they're trying to get back too.
"During Wendy's shareholder meeting last week, President-CEO Kerrii Anderson said repeatedly that the brand's performance continues to improve on the strategic plan she put in place. "We also continue to focus on strengthening the overall brand perception and value perception at the Wendy's brands as we evolve our brand positioning [with] our new advertising agencies, Saatchi & Saatchi and Kirshenbaum Bond & Partners," she said. "
This should give Wendy's share holders confidence and faith in their new CEO because the plan she has put into place is working. and the new marketing agencies hired have become good partners. The future looks bright for Wendy's.

What does Yahoo say...?
DUBLIN, Ohio (AP) -- Wendy's International Inc. on Tuesday said earnings per share, but not overall profits, would go up this year because fewer shares are on the market.
The nation's third-largest hamburger chain said it expects earnings per share between 11 cents and 14 cents for the first quarter and $1.26 to $1.32 for all of 2007. The company's previous estimate for the year was $1.17 to $1.23, before Wendy's bought back 9 million shares for about $282 million. The stock deal is expected to be completed Wednesday.
Shares of Wendy's fell 12 cents to close at $31.42 on the New York Stock exchange. Since reaching a record of $67.19 on Sept. 29 just before it spun off the Tim Hortons coffee and doughnuts chain, Wendy's stock has traded between $30.29 and $35.95."
here is both some good and not-so-good news for shareholders... but im telling you, don't panic, just hang in there, cause things will surely look up, im expecting a great year... just eat more Wendy's 8-)
Investor Relations
Some of the messages that stand out from this letter as well as the following letter from the new president talk about a positive future for the company. the BoD faced the challenge of life after Dave, the next generation (as they called it) and wanted to keep the new leadership from within the company. people that have been with the wendy's organization for a while, and worked closely with Dave. "during the second half of 2006, we created significant value for our shareholders, and the development of a new strategic plan. the new chairman left a very positive outlook, for an excitful future. he was very thorough and informative, as well as credible and believable.
the new President and CEO is Kerri Anderson. she was appointed to this position in November of '06. she has touched upon a few strategies for revitalizing a new Wendy's brand, as the total revenue for 2006 was $2.4 billion. Wendy's is going to re-establish their brand essence "Quality Made Fresh", as well as try to streamline and improve operations. this meaning getting better food to the customer faster. they are expecting to introduce more than 10 new products in '07 including sandwhiches, salads, and beverages. Wendy's is going to expand into the breakfast market and offer a breakfast menu (probably similar to McDonalds). this all sounds very exciting. Wendy's has also hired 2 new advertising agencies, Saatchi & Saatchi, and Kirshenbaum bond + partners. they are planning to target the 18-34 age demographic. 2007 should be a GREAT year for the Wendy's family.

Wendys and the Community
Vision: Every child will have a permanent home and a loving family.
Mission: Dramatically increase the number of adoptions of waiting children in North America.
sometimes i dont know if i really need to say any more, Wendy's seems to have every angle covered. every customer of Wendy's knows about the Dave Thomas Foundation. it is postered in every single restaurant as well as right in the front of their website. it is hard to avoid how much Wendy's does for the community, maybe sometimes they are a little over-ambitious with advertising the DTF, but it is the better of the two extremes. Dave Thomas was a magnificent founder and owner of Wendy's, he knew what direction to take the company for the best public appeal. using his background as an adopted child Dave knew how to organize his foundation, and it has grown today into something he would be proud of.

Advertising
http://wendys.com/ads/
I mean who didn't love the "Fpoon" and "Soquid" campaign. I know it made me drive to the nearest Wendy's and get a frosty for myself. Looking back at a few of these commercials, I remember all of these campaigns. The racoon mascots and the new dollar menu items more impressive than a unicorn. The only commercials still running are pushing the new $2.99 value meals, but Wendy's does not air commercials in prime-time TV slots.
With this in mind, i have just received a press release announcing a new position in the Wendy's corporation. "Announced that it has named Paul Kershisnik as Senior Vice President of Marketing Strategy and Innovation; Kershisnik has extensive U.S. and international experience in all aspects of marketing from strategic planning, product development and packaging, to advertising and promotions." This sounds like good news from a corporate standpoint. I am excited to see what new creative strategies Wendy's comes out with, as I am sure I will be entertained.

Nutrition
Another thing Wendy's does to inform its customers about its nutritional facts is have a "nutrition" page off of their homepage. This page opens to a new menu which allows the customers to research different things. different pages off of the nutrition page include a nutrition guide to everything on the Wendy's menu, as well as facts about food allergies and diabetes. two other things that are included are pages on Wendy's regional promotions and safe eating tips. so, you cannot just say that Wendy's is all about making money (even though they mostly are) they are still promoting healthy nutritious eating. so once again Wendy's has proven to be head and shoulders about its competition, how can you go anywhere else.

Big Plans for the Future
"DUBLIN, Ohio (February 20, 2007) – As part of its plan to return capital to shareholders, Wendy’s International, Inc. financial thnigs and stuff
"The Company reaffirmed its previously issued estimate of $330 to $340 million in earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) in 2007. The Company also said it expects to generate EBITDA of $390 to $410 million in 2008 due to improvements resulting from its initiatives related to its comprehensive strategic plan, “Quality-Driven: Wendy’s Recipe for Success,” which emphasizes the Company’s outstanding hamburger brand and quality position in QSR. In 2009, the Company is projecting EBITDA of $425 to $460 million. On February 2, the Company announced that its 2006 adjusted EBITDA from continuing operations was $220.7 million."
i'm not sure what all these numbers mean, but they're big, so it's a good sign for Wendy's. here are a few things Wendy's is trying to accomplish through 2007:
>Revitalize Wendy’s brand – The Company has re-established its brand essence, “Quality Made Fresh,” centered on Wendy’s core strength, its hamburger business.
>Streamline and improve operations – Wendy’s believes it can significantly improve operations attributes such as Order Accuracy, Friendliness, Cleanliness, and Speed of Service, clearly positioning the Company as the best operator in QSR and resulting in significantly improved store-level profits.
>Reclaim innovation leadership – The Company expects to introduce more than 10 new products during 2007, including exciting sandwiches and salads, as well as beverages that are unique to Wendy’s.
>Strengthen franchisee commitments – Management is focused on driving sales and improving profitability across the entire system and is providing incentives to franchisees to re-invest in existing restaurants. Capture new opportunities – Wendy’s will seek to drive growth beyond its existing business, including expanding its breakfast program to 20% to 30% of its system in 2007 and more than half the system in 2008.
>Embrace a performance-driven culture – Wendy’s has redesigned its incentive compensation plan by creating a more direct link between Company performance and individual pay.

Wendy's: The Beginning
Wendy’s seems to stand for good ole’ American fast food. The red and yellow colors are always a welcoming sign. They have been offering quality salads and other items far longer than, the fast food giants, McDonalds and Burger King have. When people think Wendy’s they think, Dave Thomas. He always stood for good food fast and at a reasonable price.
I have never heard a bad thing about the Wendy’s corporation. Not a single consumer I have ever talked to dislikes the food. I have even introduced Wendy’s to a former McDonald’s fan, and after one classic single, she had switched alliances.
Lately, Wendy’s has been pushing the healthier food campaign. They have introduced new salads, as well as different sides such as oranges or milk, for kid’s meals. These TV ads have been productive but can get lost in the noise of TV commercials. Wendy’s does not stand out as much as the burger king “the king” campaign, or McDonald’s “golden arches, or even Sonic’s strategy on continuous advertising. All the competition in the fast food market, it becomes a challenge to stand out. Wendy’s has always been a customer favorite, and always will. I mean who can pass up chicken nuggets and a frosty for only two dollars.
